The inscription on this stone reads:

Erected by Margaret Macrae / In memory of her husband Colin MacDougall / Who died at Glasgow / 1st March 18(?)6 / Aged 2(5?) years / In loving memory of / Sgt. Duncan MacDougall No. 5658 / 69th Machine Gun Corps / Died in France 5th October 1916 / Dear son / When I’m weary and tired of soul / There is one thing always carries / Me through / It is my everlasting memory of you / Thine for mine was a glorious sacrifice / His work on earth was done right faithfully / He did it as to him who died for him / He was his resting place / Through cloud and shadow dim / For as such is the kingdom of heaven
